It was an inauspicious start to what would lead to Saturday's stunning wedding in Santa Barbara, according to Kim Kardashian's baby sister, Khloe.
The youngest of the Kardashian triumvirate recalled her first meeting with New Jersey Nets basketballer Kris Humphries on tonight's new episode of Keeping Up with the Kadashians on E!
Khloe, 27, told 30-year-old Kim's close friend Loren that Kris, 26 , had asked her if her marriage to Lakers star Lamar Odom was 'real or just for television.'

And she went on to say that Kris, who Khloe brands a 'douche' actually asked if 'Kim's ass was fake.'
It's hardly a comment that suggested even a smidgen of portent for the fairytale nuptials that brought the celebrity world to standstill over the weekend, as Kris pledged his life to Kim.
But then, Kris didn't get off to the best of starts, as tonight's episode shows.
His 'sarcastic' sense of humour is the first stumbling block and the sisters compare him to their brother Rob, who also likes to rib the famous three incessantly.
But when Kris starts to poke fun at Kourtney, 32 , proceedings take a turn for the worse.

Besotted Kim puts her suitor on speakerphone as she waits with her elder sister for a tire to be fixed on her truck, and Kris can be heard saying: 'Kourtney, just because you have a kid and don't have any fun any more, doesn't mean you're all mature.'
But the family all prepare to meet Kris properly during a magical trip to Bora Bora to celebrate Kris and Bruce Jenner's 20th wedding anniversary.

It doesn't start well when Humphries makes waves in the calm azure waters of their idyllic resort by again turning his caustic eye upon Kourtney and partner Scott Disick, 28.

He says they act like long-married parents and urges them to use the trip to rekindle some passion, much to Kourtney's chagrin.

But at least things seem to be going well for the towering NBA star and Kim, well, at first.
The romantic haze first starts to transform into an angry miasma when Kim complains that their stunning room is too hot and too messy, because it is open to the warm sun and strewn with flowers.
Then, as the curvy Kardashian attempts to be spontaneous by jumping into the warm water fully clothed, disaster strikes.
She is happy to jump in but when Humphries throws her 'like a doll,' and Kim realises she has lost one of her diamond earrings, worth '$75,000' she cries as she storms off.
With Humphries admitting on camera that this new difficult side of Kim was something he'd never seen, and Kim storms off in angry tears about her thoughtless boyfriend, marriage looks unlikely.
To paraphrase Shakespeare, the path of love never did run smooth.
